Within the concept pitch workshop we had a small presentation on how to create a good proposal and what it should contain. There are 10 steps to achieve this:
1. SET CLEAR AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
what are they?
aims - what change in the brief - perceptions
objectives - measurable, methods, actions
2. BE SMART
specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time bound
3. USE WORDS FROM YOUR BRIEF
link back to the original brief as this is the one set
4. JUSTIFY THE NEED FO YOUR PROPOSAL
research - anything can back up opinions / ways of thinking
5. DESCRIBE YOUR AUDIENCE
don't just say student or people - be specific - describe them thorough
6. DESCRIBE YOUR MOTIVATION
what do you want to get out of the brief - your own take on it
creative edge - own goals
7. CONSIDER THE READER
who is the reader?
what are they used to seeing - understand the language that written in
8. ELIMINATE VAGUENESS
be specific - be assertive
9. VISUALISE THE ENDING
what is the end point - what do you want to create and be the final product(s)
10. ASSUME NOTHING
not everyone knows about what you are saying / proposing
explain everything - think that the reader knows nothing.
